Gag (2006)Director: Scott W. Mckinlay
Writer: Kirk Sever
Two professional thieves break into a house in search of a safe, only to discover a man beaten beyond recognition, tied down to torn mattress in a hidden room. They decide to help, only to become trapped by a serial killer whose torture methods will have them begging for death.
'Most likely aimed at Saw fans, if there's still any around that is after the god awful sequels. Opening credits roll over the now done to death format of a bound semi naked chick ready to be slaughtered, this time its in a room with loads of caged animals. She ends up being force fed a rat (viewers at this point most likely go urrgghhh and if they're old like me probably remember the series V). Cut to the movie itself which as two thieves who've chosen the wrong place to break into. When they stumbled into a room with a man gagged and tied to a bed, Leaving them with the question do you remove the gag to ask if its a kinky sex thing or leave him alone. here on in it all as shades of the Z/Gimp scene in Pulp Fiction with our two leads being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Its all done OK but never involving the viewer enough to make you care what the hell happens. Actings fine enough just very tv series feeling. As a few bloody bits and enough urrghh scenes to keep you awake and the odd sleazy moment like a scene two victims are forced to sleep with each other. Its key problem is there's no background to any of its characters and just not enough of a angle with its plot or variety in its settings or feel from one scene to the next for it to span its duration.'
