I Am Omega (2007)
Director: Griff Furst
Writer: Geoff Meed
The lone survivor of a deadly plague is doomed to an eternal battle with the mutant creatures that now control the Earth.
'From Asylum films those wonderful chaps who brought us ripoff treats like The Da Vinci Treasure, Snakes On A Train & Transmorphers bring us their version of Richard Matheson's I Am Legend oddly without him being credited. We all know the tale having already been filmed before with the seminal 70s Charlton Heston version The Omega Man, was also almost made by Hammer but they didn't think it would get past censors so dropped the idea and is also due soon with the Will Smith big budget I Am Legend version. So for a small direct to dvd company to chance their hand in doing a version knowing it can't match either of those seems strange. But that's missing the point as what they've produced is a fun 80s feeling no brain throwback action romp starring Mark Dacascos (think a cut price The Rock and your not too far) alongside Geoff Meed (whom wrote it hehe must of come to him in a dream). Sure fans of the original and quality cinema in general want to hate every minute but come on its got Dacascos beating zombies with nunchuck's. I'd run out of pixel ink if I was to list all its flaws the main one though for such a crude movie is other than Meed they don't seem to be having much fun acting in it. I mean it seems perfect cheese for a Burt Reynolds Smokey and the Bandit style gagreel final credits but I doubt they had as much fun making it as I'm sure bad movie lovers will viewing and ripping it apart.'
