Officer Matt Cordell, the undead cop, returns from the grave. Again. This time he is after the criminals who murdered him in the prison, and he is not doing that because he wants to forgive them.
'Core cast return though very briefly Bruce Campbell as Jack Forrest and Laurene Landon as Teresa Mallory. They’re joined by Claudia Christian as a psychologist who's there to help Jack and Teresa and mob looking actor Robert (Jake Fratelli in The Goonies) Davi as tough cop Sean McKinney. And again we've got Robert Z'Dar as the Maniac Cop Matt Cordell We are even treated to some back story why he’s like he is, turns out he was a cop who was wrongly sent to prison and beaten badly. This time he’s aided and given shelter by a sleazy rapist. The film takes off right where the 1st one ends, but fails to mention Cordell killing the mayor. A few killings and then the death of cop Jack Forrest leads Detective McKinney to reopen the Cordell maniac cop case. A task force is set to track and stop him only this outing he seems to be even tougher to kill. You can't blame Director William Lustig & Producer/Writer Larry Cohen for resurrecting the story as the original was big on vhs, and don’t forget this was the early 90's and the sequel was king, a few other horror franchises had hit almost double figures by then. Its as much fun as the original with a bevy of violent slayings and the added bonus of some pretty great car chases and stunts.'
