The story centers on a corporate climber (Nichols) who gets stuck working late on Christmas Eve and finds herself the target of an unhinged security guard (Bentley). With no help in sight, the woman must overcome physical and psychological challenges to survive.
'Cautionary tale about making sure your not last to leave work before the Christmas holiday close down, as you never know when you've been stalked by a security guard. Haute tension director Alexandre Aja helps with writing duties while one of that films actors Franck Khalfoun skilfully turns his hand at directing. The films plot about being left in a closed for Christmas building allows for a small cast, whom all turn in fine performances. Wes Bentley goes from charming to crazed with ease as Elvis loving (arn't all Elvis fans nuts anyway ?) security guard Thomas, and Rachel Nichols as victim Angela is assured of a bright future she's like a cross between Jodie Foster and Julianne Moore. The tensions nice and slow building and slightly Die Hard feeling early in, for a while even you think maybe the security guard is lonely, it's not till we hit a scene 45 minutes in do we get the feel that our victim is in a shitstorm of trouble and the guards a total psychotic. The films nice and gory in spells as well gaining extra cool points for sticking with traditional blood'n'gore over modern CGI crap, the action scenes like the neat flooded lift are done with bags of class. Recommended it's a wonderful glossy thriller that's all in all the best suspense yarn of the year, and seeing as we are now in November can't see much topping it.'
