Robert Neville is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable, and man-made. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and maybe the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague -- The Infected -- lurk in the shadows... watching Neville's every move... waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind's last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered... and quickly running out of time.

'Sure we all know the story but for those who don't its about Robert Neville a scientist played by Wiggedy Will Smith whose left alone as the sole NY city survivor after a virus turns people into daylight fearing mutants. It’s based on Richard Mathesons book which was already filmed in the 70s as the Omega Man featuring Chuck Heston. On the face of it and until we see one of the infected mutants its good glossy stuff, the trouble is the cgi used with the mutants is flat leaving them looking like outtakes from videogame cut scenes. And from here on in every time they popped up on screen I was left pondering why couldn’t they have just used makeup on actors. It’s not just the creature cgi I found myself pulling my hair out with either Will Smith plays Neville for a character who has lost everything with next to no emotion. It’s almost played more for comedy with goofy wisecracks, one scene he even does the voice over to shrek & donkey. Maybe I'm being slightly harsh its clearly a film aimed at younger viewers and me knowing and loving the original 70s Omega Man was always going to be something of a let down, but I found the whole thing dull and so half heartedly made and its beyond me how a film that cost over $150m can look so rough around the edges.'
