Based on Jamie Hewlett's comic strip Get the Freebies, which follows the high-kicking, high-action exploits of Buddhist Kung-Fu law enforcement officer Terry Phoo and feisty teen-rebel turned super-hero Whitey Action, who form an unlikely but effective crime-fighting team taking on Britain's super-vile, super-famous mutated criminals, The Freebies.
IMDB Page
'Hour long one off TV drama, made alongside five others as part of BBC cable channel 'Three's' revamp. Like the synopsis says its based on Jamie Hewlett's comic strip he's the man behind 'Tank Girl' and the visual guy behind 'Gorillaz' This first one is a silly but humorous comic/manga book style action hero yarn. Wayward daughter of a CIA agent (Played by Rocky's Apollo Creed) gets entangled in a plot to overthrow the British monarchy by a group of Marty 'HR Pufnstuf' Krofft looking mutant hoods called the Freebies. Was shown in a very silly out of kids hours timeslot which is a shame as it would have been more suited towards younger viewers than aiming it at an adult audience. That said I had a lot of fun watching and sure fans of Bruce Lee martial arts style movies and comic book fans will do as well. Much credit to BBC’s cable end on making such a glossy production.'
