Director: Antti Jokinen, Robert Orr
Writer: Antti Jokinen
Cast: Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Hilary Swank, Christopher Lee
When a young doctor suspects she may not be alone in her new Brooklyn loft, she learns that her landlord has formed a frightening obsession with her.
Another new Hammer Production featuring a sterling cast including Jeffrey (the Comedian in Watchmen) Dean Morgan as Max, Hilary (Million Dollar Baby) Swank as Juliet and hammer old timer Christopher Lee. Sadly as glossy as The Resident is, its too simplistic a thriller to really work. Plots basically Juliet as recently split with her long time partner and needs to find a new place to live, step forward Max who's got a perfect apartment for lease. Only turns out Max wants more from Juliet than his monthly rent. It's not long before Juliet starts to suspect shes being drugged at night, so sets about proving herself right.
Worth at least a view just don't expect to be blown away. The Resident would make an OK Sunday nights view cuddled up on the sofa with the other half. Genre fans should also note Christopher Lee is looking mighty old in this and his role is more like a cameo than full part.
