The Moon And The Sledgehammer, 1971 - ★★★★½

"Get away on you.. stand back boys the elephants about ta make water"
Mr. Page

Viewed as part of my "Beware the Docs of March Marathon"
A quirky 70's yokelmentary that follows the eccentric and amazing naive Page family, who live (maybe lived, I'd find it hard to believe they're still living like this today) in dry stone shack somewhere in the Sussex countryside of England.
Really enjoyable oddity that does the old 'Englishmen's Teeth' stereotype zero favours, but as a Brit I still enjoyed it immensely. It's like watching an episode of "The Wombles" if it starred Spike Milligan and Peter Sellers in their Goons personas. Mr. Page and his kin are so behind the times they don't realize major world events like man stepping foot on the moon, but theres a moral integrity to so much of their views on modern life, like those damned 'key pushing machines' that stop man from doing real work... in short its amazing like seeing a child's view on the world.
