"Put down your wifle... Craig"
Gate Guard
True jungle action masterclass from the golden era of Italian rambosploitation. Commander Roger Craig (badass name ehh?) is the lone American soldier left in a struggling since the war Vietcong region. Hes the last stand against pesky Russian arms traders headed by creepy pantomime villain Vlassov.
Hell yeah Commander/Last American Soldier is cheap unoriginal junk, which no doubt got dusty on the unused shelves of vhs stores. Thing is watching it today its got a strange charm that just makes you enjoy the whole movie. Ropey actor Craig Alan channels tough vet, in the same unlikely manner as Ben Stiller did decades later in Tropic Thunder.
[PRFR: Personal Reasons For Remembering]
The Apocalypse Now sized splosions even from hand nades, fuck you Ford Coppola and your millions. The sinister river of skulls, the tear jerking how did she die love interest Chokin and below mild bdsm torture the Russians inflict on Commander.
