Blomkamp's crazy robotic Pinocchio like take on artificial intelligence is an entertaining mix of Short Circuit and Robocop.
Having caught the wondrous 'Ex_Machina' only a few nights ago, It was a little unfair watching this lighter toned A.I. movie without comparing the two. While I preferred 'Ex_Machinas' more adult take, my inner child thoroughly enjoyed the shit out of Chappie.
Initially, 20 or so minutes in I was fearing the worst. But I slowly warmed to its cartoonish thugs and oddball humor, even Hugh Jackmans bizarre against type villainous performance won me around.
