Return to the Wild: The Chris McCandless Story, 2014 - ★★★
REVIEWED

Damn, just that sight of the decaying 142 is powerful. Like I'm sure everyone who took their time out to see this hour long PBS documentary, I loved both 'Into the Wild' book and Penns brilliant film adaptation. I'm not sure this doc offered much we didn't expect ourselves, but it was nice hearing Chris's sisters fondly speak of him growing up, especially his younger full sister who he was closest with. His father was/is clearly a bit of a bastard, but I'm sure what drove him away from his entire family, friends and future life was far more deep rooted than just spousal abuse. And we all knew the tragic end... but at least he got a few years of FREEDOM from whatever he was running away from.
