The warrior Beowulf must fight and defeat the monster Grendel who is terrorizing towns, and later, Grendel's mother, who begins killing out of revenge.
'Highly entertaining action driven CGI version (even a 3D version for selected cinemas) of the famous story/poem Beowulf & Grendel, makes for a rewarding fantasy yarn though must be said the plots slightly softened down to appeal to mass market (little bit here for kids little bit of semi nakedness for the adults). Plots very straightforward a king's mutant offspring named Grendel plagues his local kingdom, clearly needing an hero along comes Beowulf whom defeats Grendel. Only to be tempted by its mother into offering her another air thus starting the chain of events again. You can't fault its look and sound offering up cutting edge cgi over a cast of quality actors. The action scenes are likewise done to high quality my fave is Beowulf's swimming tale were he fights several sea monsters by slicing and dicing them. It's only flaw is due to being aimed at such a broad market young teens to adults you feel it spreads its rich plot to thin at times. if your willing to ignore this though its alot of fun, Winstone proving he was a great choice as its lead.'
