Mr. Higgins runs an antique store in middle America. He is lonely and wishes that Sparkles, a clown doll that came from Germany at the end of World War II, would come to life and play with him. On the night before Memorial Day weekend, while Mr. Higgins is working late, a wind comes through the store and a book, written in a strange language, appears next to the clown. Mr. Higgins sits down to read the pages aloud where the wind has opened the book. It's an incantation, and Sparkles comes to life. The next morning, sheriff's deputy Harlen stops by to say howdy and finds a bloody scene. He draws his gun and calls the paramedics. What has been going on? Is there any hope?Anyone who remembers the start introduction to the old British childrens television show Bagpuss will know the style of this film, its not really moving images but done in a storyboard style with photos, and oddly it works. Storys about a lonely old antique store owner who brings a wwII clown doll to life. Only the clowns a real wacko and kills everyone who comes into the store. Highly entertaining short clearly made at cost is the kind of film troma dream of making. Was originally streamed for ICF's short film showcase, you can watch the whole short on yotube in the link below.
