A ski vacation turns horrific for a group of teenagers, as they find themselves confronted by an unimaginable menace: Nazi zombies.
Rightly hyped since its inclusion in sundance and various other festivals this horror/comedy packs enough gore and humour to make its 90 minutes fly by so quickly. Has to be said plots thin and been done to death its the oft told tale of vacationing youths holding up in a remote cabin meeting a sticky end, thankfully this time its set in a snow filled area and got Nazi zombies (these are explained by a strange backpacker who tells them the cabin was on the location where a Nazi general Herzog hid treasure he'd stolen during WWII). Doesn'T take long before said backpacker and the youths are getting set upon by hordes of undead. Tommy Wirkola Dead Snows director thankfully knows and loves his horrors and makes the whole thing work, Evil Dead 1+2 and Friday the 13th get mentioned and one of the first victims wears a Braindead t-shirt as he has his head ripped apart. The film really gathers pace towards its final 3rd when its an all out blood fight for survival with everything from be-headings by snow-bike to one truly amusing penis chomping scene. Lasse Valdal the actor playing snow biker Vegard comes across as super cool hope to see him in other movies, also looking forward to seeing what Wirkola serves up next hope like his heroes Sam Raimi and Peter Jackson he keeps getting better and delivering the goods.
