Having proved his worth with Haute Tension and his Hills Have Eyes remake director Alexandre Aja does a good job keeping the films pace and action fast flowing, no doubt to stop viewers having time to question how cheesy the whole concept is. Due to the fact its clearly made as fun and solely to entertain, you can't fault that unashamedly all this remake amounts to is a bloodbath with bewbs. Story is about a tremor at Lake Victoria which opens up an under water crevice and frees a horde of prehistoric killer piranha. To make matters worse its the annual college Spring break which is the lakes busiest period.

Kicks off with a fantastic homage to jaws with Richard Dreyfuss drunkenly fishing while Show Me The Way To Go Home plays, ends with a massive gory attack on a wet T-shirt water party. Inbetween we get everything from an half eaten paraglider to a main course of 3D penis. Sure its extremely dumbed down and aimed squarely at the teen date market but its an entertaining remake I'd put down as a guilty pleasure.
