"We all live in a cheap hotel, a cheap hotel a chea..."
Teen runaway Max, to the melody of Yellow Submarine
Viewed as part of my Beware the Docs of March Marathon 1. Short docu following the gutter lives of teen runaways in San Francisco. And the bizarre dolls they've made that replicate themselves, allowing them to emotionally demonstrate their inner turmoil.
Cheaply made 8mm video documentary short with bags of heart for its alienated protagonists, most of whom recall their younger lives of abuse and neglect. Like one psychologist remarks they don't lose a lot for running. Its an achievement they've managed to grow into a kind of outcast runaway community, where everyone looks out for one another. Not exactly the kinda kids you want living next door, but all blame lays at their shitty parents.
[PRFR: Personal Reasons For Remembering]
Pre stomp box drumming, the "We love alcohol" community sing-a-long song.
