Bored bohemian vampires talk about rock muzik

Talk about, rock muzik

Talk about...

"It's Jarmusch, Jim, but not as we <3 him." 'Only Lovers Left Alive' features doomed vampire lovers, a suicidal rockstar, Tesla inventions, HIV metaphors, ancient world weary travelers and lots and lots of talk. Mostly ruminations by Adam & Eve on how science and the arts have formed our collective being known as culture. It's a huge departure and dare I say a drop in form for all involved. OK so maybe thats harsh, because theres moments its interesting and makes perfect sense. But as a package it felt overlong, trivial and empty, I guess that sums up a vampires existence.

Theres been a couple of these rough around the edges, decadent, modern, vampire fantasy yarns by respected/established directors popping up recently like Byzantium & Twixt, plus more on the way. Sadly for me at least 'Only Lovers' felt bloated , and wasted its fine British heavy cast of Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston and John Hurt. Even though I sorta got its characters logic, it failed to capture my imagination. And over 2 f'cking hours, Jim really?

<b>[Personal Reasons For Remembering]

Children of the night what beautiful music they play, it at least featured a solid blues, rock and mystical Eastern sounding soundtrack.
