“Where I come from monsters behave like monsters.” - Saxana / Saxanna (Petra Cernocka)

'The Girl on the Broomstick' is a charming Czech family movie from the super hip 70's. Thats filled to the brim with inventive sight gags and visual hokery pokery. Saxanna's a trainee witch flunking her studies. To escape her boredom she uses a 48 hour spell that sends her to the human world. There she befriends a boy named Peter, and the pair share numerous magic related misadventures together.

[Personal Reasons For Remembering]

Petra Cernocka's got so much screen presence as the moody Sabrina-like adolescent witch Saxanna. My favorite scene was probably when she got thrown into a mental institute with a woman who claimed shes Rip Van Winkle's sister. Then to really twist the poor womans idea of reality, Saxana turns a dolls head into her friend Peter's.
