REVIEWED

"You have no idea what I'm going to do with your body."

- Lauren (Sophia Myles)

When their cars thrown off the road a group of four friends are given shelter in a remote manor. Only they stumbled on a girl named Ana locked in the basement. At first they suspect shes been imprisoned by sick pedophiles, only Ana's behind locked doors for an even darker reason.

Suspect pro-life agenda, and an over use of Exorcist's Regan voice shenanigans aside 'The Damned' blends European and American genre styles together really well into a surprisingly atmospheric horror. I say 'surprising' because its directed by the usually horrendous 'Victor Garcia' who horror fans last seen taking a huge Godzilla sized shit on the 'Hellraiser' franchise. Hard to ever forgive... but those willing to give him another shot, will likely enjoy this supernatural tension builder. Its one of the better none studio horrors of 2014, though admittedly its hasn't been a vintage year so far.

[Personal Reasons For Remembering]

Always a treat seeing Sophia Myles who hasn't changed since her role in Doctor Who's The Girl in the Fireplace a decade ago.
