REVIEWED

..::Selection for Hoop-tober 2.o Horror Fest::..
Cheap and cheerful South Korean Kaiju Eiga actioner aimed squarely at the childrens market. 'Yongary, Monster From the Deep' by Kim Ki-Duk (no relation to The Isle one) is your standard - 'atomic blast awakens monster, monster goes on a mild rampage, military fail to stop him, monster dances to surf music, scientists destroys monster' stuff.

Costume/model wise Yongary looked like shit, but when he eats oil he can shoot lazers out his horned snout which makes him cooler than so many other Godzilla rip-offs. I'd love to see a dub of the original Korean version as its rumoured to have a very political slant (the mind boggles how they could fit an oil guzzling monster into a political tale), but unfortunately the full versions thought lost. The washed out English dub version I caught was still mindlessly entertaining.
