REVIEWED
"I hadn't had a cigarette in six hours, hadn't eaten, so... abstemious and tidy? What was this? A drug for people who wanted to be more anal retentive?"
Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper)
Neil Burger's Limitless is an entertaining, glossy action/thriller starring Bradley Cooper as Eddie Morra. A bum writer whose life is in decline. That is until he stumbles onto a brand new designer drug NZT-48 that enhances brain power giving the taker a limitless boost to their thought patterns and perception.
One of those movies I've been meaning to watch fully for ages, sadly Limitless fell slightly short of my expectation of it. Mostly due to the unbelievable addition of substandard Grand Theft Auto IV styled Eastern European hoods and the movies mundane none conclusion. That said its still damned exciting. Visually it looks very reminiscent of a David Fincher movie, with loads of MTV/music video type trickery, like the continuous repeating forced perception trick during Eddies more lucid states (also used in the opening titles). Acting is pretty average, but Cooper is again really likable in the lead, so is Abbie Cornish as his on off chick. Anna Friel shows up looking haggard (part of her brief role sadly) while Bob De Nero pops in later on, but his character is pretty flat and forgettable.
[PRFR: Personal Reasons For Remembering]
The dumb, humorous fight scene Eddie used old remembered movie/tv footage from the likes of Bruce Lee.
