Killer Legends - ★★★

REVIEWED

“Its more romantic to believe the myth, than whats sitting in front of you.”

- Reporter Rachel Mills

Evil clowns, babysitter stalkers, hook handed psychopaths and poisoned Halloween candy. Killer Legends attempts to pull open the curtain and uncover the sinister truths lurking under the surface of modern American serial killer based urban legends. That became famous in movies like 'The Town That Dreaded Sundown','It', 'Candyman' and 'Don't Answer the Phone'.

Sometimes we create monsters. Sometimes we just need to put a face on our fear - Joshua Zeman follows his fun docu/horror gem 'Cropsey' with the similarly macabre toned Killer Legends. Its a cheaply made cable TV feeling documentary that covers grisly real life crimes that grew into collective nightmares forming urban legends. I really enjoyed it, its guaranteed to entertain fellow horror fans. Because it sheds light on the myths that inspired so many of the genres most popular movies. That said it'll most likely come across as being too crude to work for die hard docu buffs.

[Personal Reasons For Remembering]

The annual 'The Town That Dreaded Sundown' screening they hold in the town its allegedly based. The odd circus train-wreck clown cemetery... now thats a prime candidate for a future scary movie.
