Robert the Doll - ★½

Flat out dull, clinical depression inducing evil doll themed indie horror from Welsh low budget director Andrew Jones. Thats apparently based on a true supernatural case. The doll and family home looked the part (even though neither resemble the supposedly real doll or b&b owned by Gene Otto). And it had one or two well executed scenes, dare I say even a little The Shining feeling towards its predictable climax. But it took itself far too seriously, and the acting was terribly hammy. Especially the elderly house cleaner Judith Haley and the bored housewife Suzie Frances Garton.
