REVIEWED

Bowl me over, I pleasantly enjoyed this. So rare they do black comedy/horror right. Hell it could even change me into a fan of Ryan Reynolds, who nailed both sides of warm sociopath Jerrys persona. It mixed its funny moments with its darker dramatic ones perfectly. One minute I was laughing at Mr. Whiskers barrage of insults as if it was Trainspottings Begbie, the next minute I'd be woahh at flashbacks to Jerrys unhappy childhood or at the creepy segments you see Jerry speaking in multiple voices. Its romantic tones felt corny and boy did that ending blow, but it had already won me over long before the queasily upbeat credits rolled.
