"................" - Awkward teen Duncan (Liam James)
Every year theres always at least one movie everyone gushes over that I find totally inane & worthless. Last year for me that movie was 'Silver Linings Playcheque ' this year its 'The Way Way Slack'.
For many its the endearing warm tale of an awkward teen making his first steps into adulthood, that harks back to John Hughes 80's teen comedies.
But for me it was 2 hours of boredom. Watching a teen sulk that his parents had split, while the adults around him acted like self centered teens.
It failed on the drama and comedy quota, feeling more like a stretched out episode of a Disney channel sitcom. Wouldn't shock me in the least to learn TV actors Jim Rash & Nat Faxon (who wrote and directed) hadn't tried pitching the idea first to Nickalodeon or Disney chans. Worst aspect of the movie though was the tremendous waste of the usually great Rockwell & Carell.

All I'll remember is feeling far, far too old. To be watching all these way, way closeups of bikini clad tweens. And my facepalm embaressment for Rockwell being reduced to playing such a substandard manchild role.
