"The Millers here reporting for leisure, sir" - David (Jason Sudeikis)
Hugely entertaining comedy thats one of the few in recent memory thats highly amusing throughout. I've never seen Jason Sudeikis better than here playing life long pot dealer David. A man who never really grew up, raised a family of his own or took on any kind of responsibility. In order to pay off a debt to his supplier, David ends up becoming a pot smuggler and creates a fake family in order to cross the Mexican border without looking suspicious.
Davids fake family include his neighbors Kenny as the son (a fatherless teen needing some form of male guidance, played by talented young limey Will Poulter) and Rose as his wife (a lap dancer needing to pay her rent, played by Jennifer Aniston looking stunning and like shes never enjoyed herself in a role more). And finally teenage runaway Casey as the daughter (Emma Roberts doing what both her father Eric and aunt Julia have failed to do in years, and make a film worth seeing).
'We’re the Millers' isn't by any stretch flawless, but its very funny. In fact its hands down the funniest American dysfunctional family movie since 'Little Miss Sunshine'. It's humor successfully blends 'The Simpsons' (which it hilariously references at one point) type of modern family/social values comedy with that of 'National Lampoons Vacations' styled wacky road trip. I really liked it from start to finish. Helped the cast clearly looked to be having a riot during production, which was highlighted by the closing credits laugh out loud gag reel.
[Personal Reasons For Remembering]
Nice for a change to see a comedy packed with memorable moments, from Sudeikis (clearly off the cuff) breaking the fourth wall during Jens stripper routine, what male or female for that matter wouldn't feel the same in his shoes. The ever brilliant Luis Guzmans cameo as a gay biker cop, looking for a blowjob bribe.
Ohh and not forgetting young 'Son of Rambow' actor Will Poulter doing what neither Brit comedy greats like Peter Cook, Steve Coogan or Ricky Gervais managed to truly achieve, by fitting into an American comedy without making you feel uncomfortable. His incestuous make out & spider bite scenes being two of the films real highlights.
