"Its a giant testicle" - Jim (Roy Abramsohn) less than enthusiastic interpretation of Epocott
Escape from Tomorrows an amusingly silly yet clever at times concept filmed in glorious B&W. It follows a marriage and nervous breakdown of a man while on holiday with his family in the faked feel good environment of Disneyland.
The actings sufficient and visually it looks a little cheap at times, but other times the B&W cinematography made it look amazing, reminded more than once of John Frankenheimer's 60s classic Seconds. I really enjoyed it, knowing from first hand experience how family holidays can bring out heightened tensions if theres problems in the relationship. Would have been so easy for filmmaker Randy Moore to go down the soapy route of having the couple argue at the cost of meals or whatever, but thankfully instead he manages to morph the idea into a claustrophobic fantasy. Amusing also how much of a foul backlash the movies getting from hardcore Disney nuts who seemingly don't appreciate it as being satire.

I watched an amazing docu last week about Disneys Horizons attraction, so it was nice seeing more footage around the park so soon. And I'll always thank Escape from Tomorrow for teaching me the true intended purpose of the parks princesses.
